About Us
At the California Prevention Training Center (CAPTC), our mission is to build the capacity of health care professionals working in HIV, STI and sexual and reproductive health to deliver high quality, respectful, and inclusive services. We are a capacity-building organization that offers tools and strategies to support health care providers and organizations in functioning efficiently and sustainably.
Since our inception in 1989 we’ve provided capacity-building services – from in-person and virtual training to technical assistance to evaluation support to communication strategy – to thousands of healthcare providers around the globe.
Our capacity-building services are rooted in a need to address the structural barriers to sexual health care that communities face in order to eradicate negative health outcomes. This is particularly true for communities of color, trans folks, the unhoused and other underrepresented communities.
We have cultivated deep partnerships with the CA Department of Public Health, the CDC, various nonprofits, and others, to comprehensively address the toughest sexual health issues of our time. It’s our privilege to support organizations like yours to promote radically inclusive, and transformative sexual health care.
